Manufacturing Is In Recession

Manufacturing is in recession. Data on manufacturing activity in November was released on Tuesday morning, and it did not look good. The Institute of Supply Management's manufacturing index was a big miss, at 48.6, the lowest since June 2009. It had been expected at 50.5, versus 50.1 prior. (A level below 50 indicates contraction; above 50, expansion.)
