BERLIN (AP) — German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit an asylum shelter at the center of neo-Nazi riots in eastern Germany. She plans to meet with refugees, aid workers and local officials at the home on Wednesday.Dozens of police were injured when a far-right mob in Heidenau near Dresden hurled bottles and fireworks in an attempt to prevent asylum seekers from moving into the former hardware store last weekend.So far, Germany has been largely welcoming to the tens of thousands of refugees arriving each month but the attacks on them and on refugee shelters have been on the rise.The German news agency dpa reported Wednesday that police arrested two intruders with knives who entered a refugee home in Parchim in east Germany late Tuesday.Join the conversation about this story »
