An early morning fire is closing parts of downtown Broad Street and motorists are advised to avoid the area around Ninth Street. Heavy smoke was coming from the old WAGT bulding on the northwest corner of Broad and James Brown Boulevard (Ninth Street), and police were closing lanes from Eighth Street back to 10th so firefighters could run hoses across the street. No flames were visable but a firefighters could be seen above the multi-story building aiming a water hose down on the structure. The blaze was reported after 5 a.m.
