Mother Jailed For Cutting Handcuffs Off 3-year-old With A Grinder

A Houston mother of three is barred from any contact with her children after being arrested on a charge of child abuse for cutting handcuffs off her three-year-old son's ankles with a grinder. Savanna Coats, who is in the Harris County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail, is not allowed to call or write her children or, if she makes bail, to visit them, a judge ruled Thursday. Coats, 25, told police her three-year-old son put metal handcuffs on his own ankles and lost the key in the family's north Houston home on August 19.
