A man who answered a Craigslist ad for a boat was scammed out of more than $4,800, according to a Lancaster County Sheriff's Office incident report.
A woman recently told deputies that on Feb. 18, her husband saw an ad on Craigslist selling a paton boat, the report said.
The woman said her husband emailed the seller several times regarding the boat and was told it was part of an estate and needed to be sold so she and her family could move.
A Lancaster man found himself in jail after he reacted violently when told to leave a Glennwood Avenue home.
Bruce Edward Helms, 65, 408 Glennwood Ave., was arrested Feb. 27 and charged with attempted arson and third degree assault, according to a Lancaster Police Department incident report.
According to the report, Helms was allowed to enter the residence by the victim to clean himself up from a personal accident.
Doris Starnes thought someone had maliciously destroyed her yard but when she called law enforcement to report the incident, she learned it wasn’t intentional vandalism at all, but a rabbit on the run trying to outsmart a predator.
Starnes, who lives on Hough Road (off Camp Creek Road), said she was astonished by what she saw Thursday, Jan.
A Fort Mill woman is recovering from her injuries after a minor car accident quickly turned into a group assault inside the parking lot of Indian Land’s Walmart late Thursday, March 6.
Deputies were called to the store parking lot, at 10048 Charlotte Highway (U. S. 521), just after 10 p.m.
Kershaw Town Councilman Wade Hunter is committed to his community and on March 4, the Kershaw Chamber of Commerce showed appreciation by honoring him as its “Citizen of the Year.”
Sheila Hinson, president of the Kershaw chamber, said Hunter’s devotion to the community made him a prime candidate for this honor.
“The main reason we chose him is because he’s so active in our town,” she said.
A Kershaw home is a total loss after a fire tore through it during the early morning hours of Sunday, March 2.
Sheriff’s deputies and members of the Flat Creek, Kershaw and Rich Hill volunteer fire departments responded at 1:16 a.m. to a house fire in the 3700 block of Meadowview Road, according to a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
