Murray Refers To ‘the Murder Of Mr. Brown’ And ‘tremendous Hurt’

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, reacting Monday night to events in Ferguson, Missouri, referred to “the murder of Mr. Brown” and said that many outside the African American community share the “tremendous hurt” at a grand jury’s decision not to indict the police officer who killed the teen. Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O’Toole: “Seattle is different.  This is a very special place.” Known for his blunt rap about race, the mayor argued that American society is “failing young African-American men,” and said it is time to “recommit us to making this a more just city.
