Research has credited music with helping Alzheimer's and other dementia patients. And now a Dallas-based charity is building on this connection by giving away iPods, MP3 players, and iPads to dementia patients in various care facilities across North Texas. The group has given away more than 200 devices in its first year of existence and has set a goal of increasing that to a donation of 30 music players to each of 60 facilities in three Texas cities. Music Is Our Weapon was established as a nonprofit last year by JP Maloney and Ashley Brightwell.
