Names & Faces: Rod Carew, Arsene Wenger

The Baseball Hall of Famer has passed the one-month mark since a heart and kidney transplant with no signs of rejection. Carew, 71, the former Twins and Angels infielder, had a heart attack in September 2015 and later had a device implanted in his heart. The Arsenal manager was among many English Premier League bosses to deliver a clear message to FIFA: Scrapping offside was the most radical of the ideas for changes to soccer floated by FIFA technical director Marco van Basten this week. Restricting players to 60 games a year, replacing penalty shootouts with eight-second run-ups, and introducing orange cards to send players off for 10 minutes.
