National Night Out On Aug. 8 At Petersen Park

The McHenry County Conservation District, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the McHenry Police Department and the McHenry and Wonder Lake fire protection districts have teamed up for the National Night Out Against Crime from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 8 at Petersen Park in McHenry. The event is meant to promote crime-prevention and safety programs while strengthening police-community partnerships and encouraging neighborhood camaraderie. An action-packed evening is planned with food and fun for the whole family. There will be food and beverages and free ongoing activities.

    McHenry City Council has decided to end the city's vehicle sticker program. McHenry's code requires residents of the city to to buy municipal stickers for their vehicles. Annual fees for the stickers are typically $12 for a regular vehicle, $15 for school buses operated by nonprofits and $30 for large trucks. The program generated a net revenue of $127,783 in fiscal year 2018-2019. More
