The National Weather Service in Taunton is warning residents of Worcester, Middlesex and Essex counties to take shelter as strong thunderstorms accompanied by nickel-sized hail sweep across the state this afternoon.The storms were approaching Marlboro at 2:20 p.m., moving northeast at 35 mph.The weather system is already producing winds in excess of 30 mph, but may intensify "and become capable of producing damage," meteorologists caution.
