The Seattle-based Friday Foundation has just given $9 million to nine local arts organizations. Much of the money is no-strings-attached, but $6.5 million is specifically earmarked for commissioning or buying cutting-edge, contemporary visual or performing art.   The gifts are a legacy from the late Jane Lang Davis and Richard Lang, philanthropists who lived in Medina and were active at Seattle Art Museum and many other arts organizations.
