DVD shoppers can’t get enough of “Twilight.” In its first weekend of release, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2” sold an estimated 3.85 million DVDs, better than the home entertainment debut of the first “Breaking Dawn” movie last year, Lionsgate said Tuesday.

The "Twilight" team finally has earned some love - or loathing - from Team Razzies.

James Bond is in a box-office photo finish with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny over what looks to be the last slow weekend of the holidays. According to studio estimates Sunday, Sony's Bond tale "Skyfall" took in $11 million to move back to No. 1 in its fifth weekend. That put it narrowly ahead of Paramount's "Rise of the Guardians," the animated adventure of Santa, the Easter Bunny and other mythological heroes that pulled in $10.5 million.

The "Twilight" finale and "Skyfall continued to dominate the box office on a typically slow post-Thanksgiving weekend that brought big business for holdover films but a poor start for Brad Pitt's new crime story. Bella Swan, James Bond and Abe Lincoln have combined to lift Hollywood to record Thanksgiving revenue at the box office. Kristen Stewart's finale as Bella in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" was No. 1 again with $64 million during the five-day holiday stretch that began Wednesday, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Hollywood is on course for record Thanksgiving grosses; among holdovers, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 2" and "Skyfall" jump the $200 million mark domestically... Ang Lee's Life of Pi, conversely, is easily outpacing tracking and should finish the five-day stretch with a $30 million debut for 20th Century Fox.

The sun has set on the "Twilight" franchise with one last blockbuster opening for the supernatural romance. "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2" sucked up $141.3 million domestically over opening weekend and $199.6 million more overseas for a worldwide debut of $340.9 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.

But the final film in the blockbuster vampire series is overperforming overseas, where it's already earned $38.8 million; elsewhere, Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" is generating strong interest as it expands nationwide. read more

Authorities in Bolivar, Mo., have charged a man they say was planning to go on a shooting spree this weekend at a movie theater screening of "Twilight." The 20-year-old suspect, Blaec Lammers, was charged Friday morning with making a terrorist threat, armed criminal action and first-degree assault, The Springfield News-Leader reported.

With the release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, the journey that began back in 2008 with the first Twilight movie is complete. Depending on where one stands, this will either be a sad moment or a big sigh of relief, especially if one reviews movies for a living.
