'Jurassic Park 4' Delayed

We hope you weren't counting too heavily on Jurassic Park 4 making its projected summer 2014 release date, because it looks like Universal has gone back to the drawing board...at least temporarily. The news, as it so often does these days, leaked via Twitter, where Digital Asset Manager Todd Smoyer and Concept Artist Dean Sherriff shared JP4's delay with varying degrees of unhappiness and/or panic. In Smoyer's words, "Hollywood makes and crushes dreams. Goodbye JP4." Sherriff was a little less visibly upset, simply tweeting, "Jp4 on hold."

...Top earnings over the weekend went to last week’s classic horror film reboot: Evil Dead, which made a tidy sum of $26 million. Next in line for revenues was G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which made another $21.1 million, for a total of $86.6 million so far.

 

Prehistoric tiny bugs found trapped in amber

Scientists have found three well preserved ancient insects frozen in amber - and time - in what is Earth's oldest bug trap. The discoveries of amber-encased insects in Italy may sound like something out of "Jurassic Park" but these bugs are even older than that. They are about 230 million years old, which puts them in the Triassic time period, and about 100 million years older than what had been the previously known oldest critters trapped in fossilized tree resin, or amber.

Hoist the Jolly Roger above the bestseller list, ye mateys, 'cause Michael Crichton has just published a swashbuckling pirate thriller. The popular author of "Jurassic Park" and "The Andromeda Strain" went to Davy Jones's locker last November, but his assistant found a finished draft of "Pirate Latitudes" on his computer, and Harper has plundered this booty like a chest of gold doubloons that washed up on shore.

 

Joe Johnston Talks Jurassic Park 4

Ain't It Cool News got a chance to talk to The Wolfman director Joe Johnston and the interview briefly turned to the possibility of a Jurassic Park 4 . Johnston directed the third film in the franchise, which was released in 2001.
