With today's announcement of a refreshed line of PC accessories, Logitech seems to be improving their focus on PC gamers -- and they're utilizing science to make a difference.

Logitech Chief Guerrino De Luca isn’t going to sugarcoat the gadget company’s troubles with the $300 Logitech Revue, which it introduced last December. At Logitech’s investor day Wednesday De Luca said the Revue was a mistake that will cost Logitech $100 million in operating profits. The set top box was built around Google‘s Google TV software, which remains a work in progress. We “executed a full scale launch with a beta product and it cost us dearly,” De Luca said.

Spec details of the box have yet to be fully revealed, but it's pretty clear what it will do. You'll connect the box to your existing HDTV, and then the Google TV platform will come to life via the internal hardware within the sleek, small black shell. Coupled with a Logitech Harmony remote, the total hardware solution could be compelling.

Logitech's quarterly profit fell 70% on a sharp drop in demand and the maker of computer accessories forecast tougher times ahead.
