"So You Think You Can Dance" has been picked up for a tenth season. Fox has officially announced the return of the Emmy-winning dance competition show, with auditions kicking off on Fri., Jan. 18, 2013. “I couldn’t be more proud of the amazing work that Nigel [Lythgoe] and the entire 'So You Think You Can Dance' team has done over the past nine seasons,” Fox's president of Alternative Entertainment Mike Darnell said. “This show is truly one of the most compelling series on television and I can’t wait to bring it back for Season 10.”

Epic Records chairman L.A. Reid will not be returning for season three of  “The X Factor,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The reality-TV judge is quitting the Fox talent show to focus more on developing new and signed musicians.

This season of "The X Factor," from which Paige Thomas and Vino Alan were only somewhat surprisingly eliminated on Thursday night, as the top eight dwindled to the top six, often comes off as a strange, seat-of-the-pants affair – an overproduced, unpolished hodgepodge of random quirks and unplanned gaffes.

Much of the fun and laughter was sucked out of the "Dancing With the Stars" ballroom on Tuesday night after the combined judges' scores and viewer votes from this week and last led to the elimination of two fan favorites: Kirstie Alley and Gilles Marini.

"The Talk" co-host told Hello! magazine that "I didn't want to live the rest of my life with that shadow hanging over me." The 60-year-old "America's Got Talent" judge, who had colon cancer a decade ago, said that without the surgery, "the odds are not in my favor."

The all-stars kicked up their heels with country-themed routines this week on "Dancing With the Stars," but for one hopeful it was time to giddyap out of the ballroom on Tuesday night. And it wasn't the celebrity at the bottom of the leaderboard (Kelly Monaco) after Monday's performances who had to go. It wasn't even the second lowest scorer (Emmitt Smith).

The panel stole the spotlight as they just couldn't agree about much of what they saw on the floor or what they heard from each other.

The tumble Karina took during her hip-hop routine alongside Apolo had nothing to do with the dance style — a stray mic pack set the stage for that slip.

There was lots of good news on Monday night, as "The Voice" and "Dancing with the Stars" both saw week-to-week growth and helped carry NBC and ABC to their regular Monday split.
