Scribner is publishing a new edition of “A Farewell to Arms” that will include dozens of Ernest Hemingway’s alternate endings... In an interview in The Paris Review in 1958 Ernest Hemingway made an admission that has inspired frustrated novelists ever since: The final words of “A Farewell to Arms,” his wartime masterpiece, were rewritten “39 times before I was satisfied.”

Stephen King e-story 'Mile 81' coming Sept. 1

Stephen King is back in the e-book game. The horror master is releasing a short story in digital format only. Scribner announced Thursday that "Mile 81," a "chilling story" set at a rest stop on the Maine Turnpike, will go on sale Sept. 1 at a suggested price of $2.99. The new book will also include an excerpt from King's upcoming novel, "11/22/63."

 

New Stephen King e-book to cost $35

The latest e-book from Stephen King is no bargain. Scribner announced Wednesday that the digital edition of King's "Under the Dome," a 1,000-plus page novel, would not be released until Dec. 24, virtually the end of the holiday season and a month after the hardcover.
