Hector "Macho" Camacho was a brash fighter with a mean jab and an aggressive style, launching himself furiously against some of the biggest names in boxing. And his bad-boy persona was not entirely an act, with a history of legal scrapes that began in his teens and continued throughout his life. The man who once starred at the pinnacle of boxing, winning several world titles, died Saturday back in the Puerto Rican town of Bayamon where he was born, ambushed in a parking lot in a car where packets of cocaine were found.

 

Miami-area child hit by bullet on school bus

A child has been airlifted to a hospital after being shot on a school bus in South Florida. Miami-Dade Police are investigating the Tuesday morning shooting in Homestead on a private bus for a Miami-area charter school. It's unclear whether the student was shot by someone on the bus or hit by a stray bullet.

 

'Twilight' shooting plot in Missouri foiled, police say

Authorities in Bolivar, Mo., have charged a man they say was planning to go on a shooting spree this weekend at a movie theater screening of "Twilight." The 20-year-old suspect, Blaec Lammers, was charged Friday morning with making a terrorist threat, armed criminal action and first-degree assault, The Springfield News-Leader reported.

 

Colorado cop fatally shot; 3 suspects in custody

A Colorado police officer was killed while responding to a call about a suspicious person, Fox News confirms. Lakewood Police initially reported that the suspect in the shooting was also killed, but have since changed that statement and are only reporting that the officer is killed, FOX31.com reports.

Gunman opens fire near Wis. mall; manhunt underway

A manhunt was underway in Brookfield, Wis., on Sunday after at least seven people were shot at a suburban Milwaukee mall, law enforcement and hospital officials said. Deputies were on the scene of a shooting at Azana Salon and Spa across the street from Brookfield Square Mall, the Associated Press reports.

 

2 off-duty Fla. officers fatally shoot naked woman

Two off-duty Florida law-enforcement officers fatally shot an armed, naked woman who confronted them at a social gathering Saturday, authorities said. The shooting occurred at about 1:15 p.m. Saturday in Hernando County, north of Tampa. The county sheriff's office said in a news release that the men were approached by an "armed, naked and irrational female." The news release does not identify the weapon, but it says "one or both of the law enforcement officers fired their weapons, striking the female." She died at the scene.

 

U.S. military court rules Fort Hood shooting suspect must shave

A U.S. military court ruled on Thursday that Fort Hood shooting suspect Major Nidal Hasan must shave his beard, which he says he grew because of his Muslim faith, before appearing for court-martial on murder charges connected to the 2009 rampage.
