Earlier this month, director Michael Bay received the Vanguard Award for Excellence in Filmmaking at the 30th Annual ShoWest , and after accepting the award, Bay gave the exhibitors in attendance a special treat by sharing the first never-before-seen footage from his upcoming sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen , which we described here . Now, you can see that footage for yourself as Mr. Bay has graciously posted it to his own official site MichaelBay.com for everyone else to enjoy.

At the Sony Pictures presentation of their upcoming summer line-up, Sony President of Worldwide Distribution Rory Bruer introduced the footage to be shown--look for our description for the first-ever footage for Neil Blomkamp's District 9 below--talking about how excited they were about their upcoming line-up for the summer, but also looking forward to 2010 and 2011.

I have to start with the biggie of the presentation: DISTRICT 9, directed by Neill Blomkamp and produced by Peter Jackson… the director/producer team that should have been making a HALO movie.

Before the ShoWest screenings for DreamWorks' drama The Soloist, exhibitors were given a special treat with an extended trailer for Stephen Sommers' G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra , opening on August 7. One assume that the special footage shown would be close to what we'll see in front of either Star Trek and/or Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen this summer.

HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE is finally coming to theaters this Summer. WB showed a new trailer from the film at ShoWest today in Las Vegas.

During the Warner brothers presentation, after watching some really hot footage of Terminator Salvation, The Hangover and Harry Potter 6, Robert Downey Jr. introduced footage of his new movie Sherlock Holmes. It was the first time any footage had been shown anywhere.

When they gathered here at ShoWest last year, theater owners wondered whether they'd soon be out of business because of piracy, ...

ShoWest is starting on Monday in Las Vegas. We've always attended but this year since all of the major studios pulled out and aren't doing anything for any of their films we decided to skip it, it just wasn't worth it.
