Amazon has pulled the plug on WikiLeaks, the site that earlier this week began releasing a mammoth collection of confidential U.S. State Department diplomatic cables.

"WikiLeaks servers at Amazon ousted," said WikiLeaks around 3 p.m. Eastern time on its Twitter account. "Free speech the land of the free ... fine our $ are now spent to employ people in Europe."

Despite a few outages in the past few months, Facebook continues to zip along as the fastest social network in terms of average response time for the site, according to a report by web analytics company AlertSite.

Mobile check-in app Foursquare's Monday outage happened after staff tried to fix one problem and somehow triggered another.

Facebook's had a rough day. In fact, it's had its worst day performance-wise in over four years, with 2.5 hours of downtime that resulted in countless complaints from users. Perhaps more important, it also had a bevy API problems, and its Like buttons — which are embedded on over 350,000 sites across the web — were apparently busted too.

Amazon.com encountered technical problems Tuesday afternoon that prevented customers from placing orders on the company's website.

The North Korean government was the source of high-profile cyberattacks in July that caused Web outages in South Korea and the United States, news reports said Friday.
