USA Today Picks New Editor

USA Today named David Callaway, who had been the top editor at MarketWatch since 2000, as its new editor. At the paper, he rejoins Larry Kramer, founder of MarketWatch, who in May was named publisher of USA Today.

 

Dow Jones President Resigns

The president of Dow Jones, Todd Larsen, resigned Tuesday after more than two years on the job and 13 years at the company. No reason was given for his departure. Dow Jones is the unit News Corp. that publishes The Wall Street Journal.

 

Struggling J.C. Penney fires its president

J.C. Penney Co.’s transformation team started to unravel on Monday. Penney president Michael Francis was fired after only eight months as the No. 2 executive at the Plano-based department store chain. Francis’ abrupt departure appears to be another corrective step from CEO Ron Johnson, who recently acknowledged that Penney’s marketing message has confused shoppers.

 

IPO Watch: Square Hires Former Goldman Sachs Exec As CFO

Co-founded in 2009 by Twitter cofounder Jack Dorsey, Square enables people to accept credit card payments on iPhone, iPad or Android devices... In a move that positions the company for a potential initial public offering, Square has hired former Goldman Sachs and Salesforce.com executive Sarah Friar as chief financial officer.
