Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in Great Britain at 1,344 m (4,409 ft 5 1 ⁄ 2 in) high. It is in Scotland, near Fort William and it is part of the Three Peaks Challenge and attracts an estimated 100,000 climbers per year, The name comes from the Gaelic, Beinn Nibheis, meaning poisonous or terrible.
