Common hogweed, or eltrot (H. sphondylium), is native to Eurasia and has naturalized in eastern North America. The plant reaches about 1.8 metres (6 feet) in height and has large hollow stems with hairs. It bears pink to white flowers arranged in clusters up to 20 cm (8 inches) in diameter.
