Police: Suspect dies after struggle with officers (AP) — Authorities are investigating the death of a suspect who died after what's being described as a violent struggle with Sacramento police officers who were called to a retail store by a clerk who told a 911 dispatcher that she feared for her safety. When officers arrived they say the suspect became combative, with the struggle becoming so violent that it moved from inside of the store and out onto the sidewalk and parking lot in front of the store.

Show dogs stolen again from San Bernardino home The Riverside Press-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/176Ny7u ) reports one of the stolen dogs was ranked sixth nationally on the show circuit, but Fernando Juarez says the real loss is that the four-legged friends are family members. Sheriff's detective Kenneth Owens says if caught, the dog thief could be charged with grand theft because the value of the animals exceeds $950.

Police: Ala. man shot dead after traffic collision MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Police in Montgomery say they suspect car crash played a role in a fatal shooting that is the city's 26th homicide of the year. The Montgomery Advertiser reports (http://on.mgmadv.com/Z765uX ) 32-year-old Darrell Howard Jr. was shot late Friday near the intersection of Brookview and Dyas Drive. Police say Howard was pronounced dead at the scene. Montgomery police say their initial investigation has led them to believe the shooting occurred during an argument over a traffic collision.
