Montgomery County fire officials are warning residents in the western part of the county against burning as drought conditions continue to worsen. The drought level in areas around Magnolia and Montgomery is particularly high, making it easier for severe wildfires to grow, Montgomery County Fire Marshal Jimmy Williams said Friday. He said 90 percent of the area's wildfires start as controlled burns. Williams said conditions such as these show up every year. "We generally see these conditions really start to ramp up in July and August," Williams said.
