City council members formulated their to-do list Tuesday at a three-hour workshop, and the outcome offers clues to how Oklahoma City’s next 10-year streets program and a possible MAPS 4 could shape up. Here’s a look at goals for the rest of the decade and how priorities have evolved since the last agenda-setting session two years ago. NEIGHBORHOODS Aggressively enforce city codes to attack urban blight. Implement the comprehensive plan to guide development. Make neighborhoods a focus of capital improvement programs. What’s changed: The city has inventoried vacant and abandoned buildings and allocated money to step up code enforcement. EDUCATION Expand partnerships with Oklahoma City public schools. Document schoolchildren’s performance. What’s changed: Council members are working in concert with school officials to build closer ties between neighborhoods and schools. TRANSPORTATION Repair residential streets. Increase public transit ridership. Assess prospects for regional transit tax.
