Oklahoma County Jail Trust Still Gathering Information Before Making Decisions

By Kayla BranchStaff writer kbranch@oklahoman.comThe Oklahoma County Criminal Justice Authority is still in the preliminary stages of gathering information and hearing reports on the county jail. The newly created trust held its second meeting Monday afternoon, the majority of which was spent going over housekeeping items like understanding the Open Records Act and the Open Meetings Act, as well as having a lawyer go over the trust’s governing document. The governing document includes an outline of how the trust will receive funds from the Oklahoma County Budget Board, a stipulation that the trust can only issue debt with approval from the county commissioners, and the trust must create a citizens advisory board. Two agenda items dealing with the creation of committees to tackle specific issue areas and the development of an overall plan of action were pushed back to be discussed at a later meeting.Read more on NewsOK.com
