Savannah-Chatham Public Schools officials are working to rectify reported discrepancies in their minority contracting participation report.
Two weeks ago the district’s education sales tax construction project manager, Bill Huttinga of Parsons, reported that $26 million in ESPLOST II dollars had been awarded to 50 women and minority owned firms — about 25 percent of the $90 million that has been paid so far to construction managers at risk.
But several of the minority sub-contractors who found their names on Huttinga’s list have complained that the numbers are inflated or untrue.
“I have received no fewer than 10 calls saying that the information in that report is inaccurate,” said Connie Hall, a Savannah-Chatham Public School Board member, during the monthly board meeting Wednesday.
Vocal group Rascal Flatts will headline the 2015 Rock ’n’ Roll Savannah Marathon and Half Marathon on Saturday, Nov. 7.
The band will perform for runners and spectators at the Toyota Rock ’n’ Roll Concert Series event powered by iHeartRadio at Forsyth Park. The finish line concert is free and open to the public.
Rascal Flatts is known for hit singles “These Days,” “Bless the Broken Road,” “What Hurts The Most,” “My Wish,” “Take Me There” and “Here Comes Goodbye.” Since 2000, Rascal Flatts has earned more than 40 trophies from various awards shows.
Public safety officials in the Savannah area want folks to know they’ll be out in force this weekend as residents and visitors celebrate the Labor Day weekend.
Savannah’s a vacation destination, after all, and AAA is forecasting 35.5 million people will hit the road (or sky) nationwide over the holiday weekend.
