In recent days the states of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming submitted an alternative plan outlining the proposed operations of Lake Powell and Lake Mead after 2026.
Woven throughout this alternative plan submitted to the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation by these Upper Basin Division States is the need to restore balance to the vital lifeline of the West — The Colorado River.
Righting the imbalances that have caused these two reservoirs to drop to historic and critically low volumes will require more assurances than are contained in the 2007 operating guidelines or the plan currently proposed by California, Arizona, and Nevada, the Lower Division Basin states.
It’s a positive step that the Lower Basin states have acknowledged their role in this imbalance, but we are deeply troubled by their assertion that additional constraints be placed on Upper Basin water users when we use just over half of our legal apportionment.

The 1922, the Colorado River Compact attempted to provide certainty and security of water supplies for both the Upper and Lower Basins.
Dear Amy: How should I react to some of the baffling requests for gifts and money when invited to wedding showers, weddings, and baby showers?
I just received an invitation for my niece’s baby shower (my sister is her mom).
Request number one was for a book instead of a card. OK, fine, but she is asking people to give this, along with a gift.
She then offered for guests to enter in a raffle if they would bring a package of diapers.

Forget about “needs” for a moment. You’ve got the most incredible quarterback class in a generation. The ones that will define NFL football when they hit their prime.
I’m a huge fan of the former PAC-12, and I don’t think it’s crazy to take the Huskies’ Michael Penix Jr.

Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa ordered businesses and government offices to shut down Thursday and Friday amid a crippling lack of electrical power ahead of a key national referendum scheduled for Sunday.
Noboa blamed the unprecedented measure on drought, but also sabotage, without offering evidence. The energy crisis comes on the heels of a security crisis and a fiscal crisis that’s sent it seeking help from the International Monetary Fund.
President Joe Biden called China “xenophobic” while highlighting the Asian nation’s economic woes, as he sought to make the case for U. S. economic strength during a campaign stop in the swing state of Pennsylvania.
