In Our View: Tear Down Wall Plan

In a fit of politics Tuesday, President Donald Trump backed down from demands that a spending bill to keep the government running include a down payment on a wall across the United States’ southern border. While the decision apparently opens the way for a deal that will avoid a government shutdown on Saturday, it does little to clear up the muddled discussion about the cost and effectiveness of the wall proposal.
