BELL, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California freeway was shut down after a tanker truck loaded with 8,500 gallons of gasoline overturned and burst into fire. A Los Angeles County Fire dispatch supervisor say the truck driver was freed by firefighters after Sunday afternoon's accident on the southbound side of State Route 710 in Bell. Michael Pittman says the driver was treated at the scene. The fire sent a plume of black smoke that could be seen for miles. Pittman says about 500 gallons of fuel spilled, and a Hazmat team was able to pump an undetermined amount of gas out of the tank. The gas and fire shut down both directions of the freeway for hours as crews worked to put out the flames and clean up the mess.Read more on NewsOK.com
