Bong Joon-ho's Parasite storyboards are set to be transformed into a 304-page graphic novel, released by Grand Central Publishing on May 19, two days ahead of the one-year anniversary of the film's premiere at Cannes. Grand Central, who acquired the North American rights to the literary work, which has previously been published in South Korea, describes the book as "a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the making of one of the best films in years and a brand-new way to experience a global phenomenon." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/08/14/parasite-official-trailer"] The pages of the graphic novel will be filled with Bong's hand-drawn illustrations from the pre-production stage, coupled with dialogue, camera directions, and staging notes, which will be translated from Korean to English for the upcoming release. "Director Bong’s illustrations share the illuminating power of his writing and directing, making the Parasite graphic novel a gorgeous, riveting read and fascinating behind-the-scenes glimpse at the making of one of the best films of the year," senior editor Wes Miller said in a statement, per The Hollywood Reporter. The book is also set to include a foreword written by the director, as well as early concept drawings and photos from the set, to take the reader even deeper into the vision that gave rise to the historic Oscar-winner.
