LLANO, Calif. (AP) — A small plane has crashed in the high desert northeast of Los Angeles, killing the pilot. Authorities say the single-engine Piper PA25 crashed shortly after noon Thursday in a field in Llano (YAH'-noh) in the Antelope Valley. There was no fire. The pilot was the only person on board. The aircraft is owned by a glider training school that operates out of a nearby airport. The Southern California Soaring Academy was closed Thursday, and messages seeking comment weren't immediately returned.
