The National Weather Service is warning swimmers at the Jersey Shore that powerful, "life threatening" rip currents are likely to develop today.The warning comes after the death of a 10-year-old boy, Khitan Devine, who disappeared into the surf in Atlantic City on Sunday. His body was found by lifeguards about four miles south in Margate on Wednesday.

    @ Jim: Generally during the summer, the waves are smaller on the North Shore, which includes Hanalei Bay. This makes it great for the kids. However, surf swells can come at any time, so it is a good idea to check daily ocean conditions or ask a lifeguard (there are two along Hanalei Bay).
