Screenwriter Damon Lindelof has tweeted his apology to fans offended by Carol Marcus' underwear scene in Star Trek Into Darkness. Marcus, played by Alice Eve, is the only other major female character in the film besides Zoe Saldana's Uhura. Before Guillermo del Toro's giant robots vs giant aliens sci-fi flick has even hit theaters, a sequel has already been given the greenlight. According to Entertainment Weekly,  Entertainment CEO Thomas Tull approached del Toro after the film's first screening and asked him to pen a sequel. When Tull asked if del Toro had any immediate ideas for a narrative, the director said ‘F—, yeah!’ ! "Because on the way to the finished screenplay," remembers del Toro, "there were entire angles and ideas that we chopped off because they were too much." The sequel would explore the alien forces behind the 'kaiju' (giant monsters) who invade Earth through the 'antiverse.' “They’re a race of blind consumers grabbing planets, consuming them, and moving to the next,” says del Toro. “The idea is to explore a little bit of that.
