'red Army' Moves To Sony Pictures Classics

Sony Pictures Classics has picked up North American, Asian and Eastern European rights to filmmaker Gabe Polsky's Red Army.The documentary centers on the Soviet Union's Red Army hockey team during the Cold War. The squad was the most successful dynasty in sports history. It is told through the eyes of the team captain Slava Fetisov and focuses on the friendships, betrayals, and his personal life, which let to his transformation from national hero to political enemy.Gabe Polsky had this to say about the film."At its heart, this is a film about the Russian soul."Sony Pictures Classics co-presidents Tom Bernard and Michael Barker said this about the project."We can't wait to present this film to audiences everywhere.
