By Jay Tidwell Special to the Journal SHANNON – The playoff legacy for Shannon began before the birth of any of the current players, and they didn’t want it to end now. The Red Raiders used a relentless ground game and took advantage of miscues by Pontotoc on Friday night to upend the Warriors 40-7, and clinched the remaining playoff seed from Division 1-4A. Shannon (3-7, 2-3) will make its 20th consecutive post-season appearance when it visits Greenwood on Friday. “We came out and had the mindset that we are going to do what we have to do to make it to the playoffs,” said Cameron Montgomery, a senior running back and wide receiver for the Red Raiders. Montgomery, who finished with a season-high 145 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, helped set the tone on the first possession.
