ROBERT ST. JOHN There are two subjects I’d like to cover today: The good old days and clickbait. Let’s start with the latter. Clickbait is Internet content, typically sensational or provocative, whose intention is to suck visitors into a certain webpage. It is a visual web-based enticement – usually in the form of a pop-up ad or Facebook/Twitter post based on one’s interests – that lures viewers to a site with the underlying purpose of getting them to eyeball an advertisement. All one needs to do to get to their website is offer a Beatles quiz, actually any rock-and-roll trivia quiz, or a top-10 restaurant or food list of any kind.
