Producer, director and writer Rory Kennedy, co-founder of Moxie Firecracker Films, had the Texas premiere of “The Fence (La Barda)” last week at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum on the University of Texas at Austin campus. An engaged audience threw her and producer Keven McAlester a range of questions regarding her views on immigration and the making of the documentary, which takes a critical look at the effect of the border fence. I had gotten a phone call from my friend Douglas Brinkley, who's a historian-writer, and he was then a visiting professor at the University of Texas in Brownsville.
