After the first day of public meetings regarding the proposal, city officials are already reconsidering one of the major provisions of a new alcohol ordinance. City officials say they may change or eliminate a prohibition against anyone under the age of 21 dining in an alcohol-serving restaurant after 10 p.m. without a parent or legal guardian. The provision was one of the most commonly criticized proposals Tuesday afternoon as 30 to 40 industry representatives attended the first public meeting on the proposal at the Savannah Civic Center. A common refrain was the impact the ban would have on those who are old enough to serve in the military. “I think it is ludicrous,” said Brian Huskey, who owns four local restaurants, as well as one bar.
