Schools, Students Expect Tuition Hikes

McNutt Staff Writer kmcnutt@oklahoman.comStudents can expect to pay more next fall to attend Oklahoma's 25 public colleges and universities following $112 million in cuts to higher education this fiscal year and expected future cuts. The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education has made college affordability its top priority, Chancellor Glen Johnson said at a recent public hearing on tuition and fees. “Whether a student going to college is right out of high school or an adult learner who is returning to college, if they demonstrate that they have the ability to achieve in college," Johnson said, "we feel we have a responsibility as a state regent body to give them the opportunity — or the access — to go to college, and certainly an additional responsibility to keep college affordable for our students.Read more on NewsOK.com
