Repairs to Old Stage Road are complete, and it is now open full-time to the public, El Paso County officials said Wednesday.
An important recreational corridor for hikers, cyclists and off-road vehicles, the road west of Colorado Springs was closed after the September 2013 rainstorms caused heavy damage to a 3 1/2-mile stretch.
County officials opened the road on weekends before Labor Day; they said further repairs under a $600,000 overhaul means it is now passable.
Federal Emergency Management Agency funds are expected to cover 75 percent of the bill.
El Paso County's share was about 12.5 percent, or roughly $75,000, with the remainder coming from the State of Colorado.
