CHURCH HILL — The nation's oldest established bluegrass program of its kind at any university will be the main attraction Saturday evening at the region's newest bluegrass festival. The East Tennessee State University bluegrass program will be on stage beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, providing the entertainment for Church Hill's inaugural Pickin and Grinnin on Main festival in front of the Church Hill Public Library. The library faces Highway 11-W near the Church Hill Shopping Center. Pickin and Grinnin on Main replaces the old Church Hill Community Celebration, which ran for 10 straight years. Earlier this year it was announced that Celebration organizers would no longer be able to carry on, and with no one stepping up to take their place the Celebration was canceled. Karri Vaughan, Church Hill HealthCare and Rehab human resources director, took that as a personal challenge to find a replacement festival for Church Hill. Pickin and Grinnin on Main will be centered around the Church Hill Public Library/Senior Center facility, and parking will be in the Church Hill Shopping Center lot. The festival officially begins at 3 p.m.
