EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — Snohomish County announced Monday that it agreed to pay $620,000 over the death of a severely allergic jail inmate, but it turns out that was only part of the payout the man's family will receive. According to a copy of the agreement released Tuesday under a public records request, the total settlement reaches $2.4 million, with the balance being paid by the county's insurance policy and by an insurance policy for Aramark Correctional Services, the company that prepared meals at the jail. Michael Saffioti had turned himself in on a misdemeanor marijuana charge in July 2012 and informed staff about his severe dairy allergy.
