This is a funny book, heartfelt, silly, profane, insightful. It's set in the 1990s, in London and the West Midlands city of Wolverhampton, but you don't really need to know much about that time or place. This is human stuff, a smile or laugh in almost every sentence - often a snort, giggle, or guffaw - and you learn a lot about how girls get built.
