Signed Contracts To Buy Us Homes Rise To 18-month High

WASHINGTON (AP) — The number of Americans signing contracts to buy homes rose at a healthy pace in January, a sign that home sales are poised to accelerate after a slow start to the year. [...] economists expect that strong job gains, low mortgage rates and solid consumer confidence will boost home sales this year. The average 30-year fixed mortgage rate was 3.76 percent last week, according to the mortgage giant Freddie Mac.
