Slain Man Was Facing Prison Time For Fraud

A man who was shot and killed outside his southeast Houston church following an event there Friday night recently pleaded guilty to federal charges of wire fraud and identity theft and was awaiting what could have been a substantial prison sentence. Irving pleaded guilty Feb. 17 to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of identity theft. The identity theft charge carried a mandatory minimum of 24 months, which would have to be served after any other term.
