FROM STAFF REPORTSMOORE — Smokey Bear received a rock star welcome at Oakridge Elementary School in Moore, where he and Oklahoma Forestry Services recognized Katelyn Brown, the winner of Smokey Bear’s Birthday Card Contest. The contest, which attracted artistic entries from third- and fourth-graders throughout the state, was part of Oklahoma Forestry Services’ celebration of Smokey Bear’s 70th birthday and coincided with National Fire Prevention Week. “This is such a fun way to get kids involved in learning about wildfire prevention,” said Jeri Irby, Oklahoma Forestry Services education coordinator.Read more on NewsOK.com
