Some Mchenry County School Districts Cancel After-school Activities Due To Weather

Freezing rain and 3 to 5 inches of snow are in the forecast for McHenry County, according to the National Weather Service. A winter weather advisory is in effect until noon Wednesday. Accumulations of up to 5 inches are expected late Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning, according to the service. Ice accumulations of up to two-tenths of an inch are expected Tuesday afternoon, according to the advisory. Slippery road conditions are expected to impact the evening commute – and have caused some school districts to cancel after-school activities. Lake in the Hills police offered some driving tips in an alert sent out Tuesday afternoon: "If commuting, please use caution while driving.
