From Staff ReportsTULSA — Special Olympics Oklahoma has announced its 2016 award winners. Billy Veytovich, of Morris, was awarded Athlete of the Year, which recognizes an outstanding athlete who exhibits sportsmanship and encourages teammates and opponents to always do their best, according to a news release. Rebecca Malson, of Oklahoma City, received the Spirit Award, designated for athletes who, despite serious challenges, aspire to overcome and meet those challenges with grace, dignity, courage and determination. The Volunteers of the Year award went to Harold and Gloria Muse, of Ada, who have volunteered their time with the organization for more than 30 years. The Mackey family, of Lawton, received the Family of the Year award, given for dedication and family commitment to Special Olympics and the athletes they support. Elizabeth Sam, of Pauls Valley, won the Coach of the Year award.Read more on NewsOK.com
