Stanford, Oregon State In Clash Of Pac-12’s Top Defenses

Even though both teams have experienced quarterbacks — Kevin Hogan for Stanford and Pleasanton native Sean Mannion for Oregon State — they’re 11th and 12th in the league in third-down conversions. With David Parry joining Aziz Shittu on the injury list, the defensive line is in tough shape. The Beavers’ quarterback is eighth in the conference in passing yards per game (262.7) and has thrown almost as many interceptions (five) as touchdown passes (seven). OSU badly misses All-America wide receiver Brandin Cooks, now with the Saints. Story lines: [...] it lost to Arizona State last week, Stanford had been ranked in the AP Top 25 since the first week of the 2010 season. [...] the Cardinal need to bounce back from a stinging loss. Oregon State has been without its best offensive lineman, Isaac Seumalo, all season with a foot injury. Oregon State’s most experienced wide receiver, sophomore Victor Bolden, caught just six passes last year.
